Today in Room 6 we made applesauce.
This morning when Room 6 arrived they found a pot and a chart that said applesauce. Together we mixed the ingredients in the pot. We added apples, sugar and water.
Next we wrote about the ingredients and the steps we took to make it.
During the day we each had a go at mixing it.
At the end of the day it was cooked and we all had a taste. YUM!

Every day in Room 6 we have the kids from Room 4 come in a listen to us read. They also test us on our words. Their visits are helping us get faster at reading.

Ruru Art
Today we made some pretty cool pictures, below are the photos of how we did it.
First we started of by painting our background:
Next we practiced our bubble blowing skills and used this to colour our owls body:
We then used black paint to create the perch our bird was going to sit on:
Next we cut out our wings, feet, eyes and beak:
Finally we had to glue the wings, eyes and feet to the body (we had to help each other to do this):
Finally this was the outcome:

Pukeko life cycle
This week we have been learning about the life cycle of a pukeko (bird). We made some really cute life cycles out of paper and card.
We also watched a really cool YouTube clip that shows some chicks hatching out of their shell. So many questions came from this and we had a big talk about the difference of the eggs we eat and the eggs that the chicks hatch out of.

Term 3
Welcome back to Term 3! We have made a great start to the term with a super busy week. This term we welcome Cayden who turned 5 years old in the holidays and is now a part of our class.
This term for topic we are studying native New Zealand birds. We have made a cool class display that we will be adding information to each week (pop in and have a look as we update it each week).
Last term we also went on a trip the Kiwi house. Below are some photos of some of the birds that we saw:
We were also very lucky and got to see a tuatara and some green lizards!
Below is a picture of our feather cloak that we made for Matariki - we are pretty impressed with how it looks.
Today we have been exploring through play. We call this discovery time. This time helps us to build our communication skills and allows us the opportunity to use our imagination! Below are some photos of us building and constructing objects and machines.
