Rainbow facts

Today some of the kids in Room 6 were learning their basic facts to 10. We did this in a really cool and easy way. We just had to match one end of the rainbow up with the other!!

Planets

Today we began our new inquiry into planets. To start this off Whaea Katie showed us a video that told us a little about each planet you can watch it here on YouTube.

After watching our video we came up with some questions that we might want to find out the answers to. Keep an eye out each day as we find answers to these questions:

  • Is the red planet warm or cold?
  • How were the planets made?
  • Why does Jupiter have no water?
  • Do the planets move?
  • Why are they different colours?
  • What are the planets made of?
  • Why can't we see them?

Mr Pukeko

This morning some of our class were out on the play ground when they noticed  a pukeko over in the paddock beside our school.
He is pretty hard to see in this picture, you have to look super close.

Making applesauce

Today in Room 6 we made applesauce.

This morning when Room 6 arrived they found a pot and a chart that said applesauce. Together we mixed the ingredients in the pot. We added apples, sugar and water.

Next we wrote about the ingredients and the steps we took to make it.

During the day we each had a go at mixing it.

At the end of the day it was cooked and we all had a taste. YUM!

Buddy readers

Every day in Room 6 we have the kids from Room 4 come in a listen to us read. They also test us on our words. Their visits are helping us get faster at reading.

Certificates

This weeks certificates go to:
Logan and Kayley for finishing their Early Words and Hoani for making sure that he reads every night.

Ruru Art

Today we made some pretty cool pictures, below are the photos of how we did it.

First we started of by painting our background:

Next we practiced our bubble blowing skills and used this to colour our owls body:

We then used black paint to create the perch our bird was going to sit on:

Next we cut out our wings, feet, eyes and beak:

Finally we had to glue the wings, eyes and feet to the body (we had to help each other to do this):

Finally this was the outcome:
